Review: Star Wars The Complete Saga (Blu Ray)

One of the most successful film series of all time finally makes its way to blu-ray in a rather unremarkable 9 disc set that doesn’t so much explode onto the HD format as fizzle and pop with a faint smell of fart.

The Imagined Village – Space Girl

Cool music video by The Imagined Village (whoever they may be) titled Space Madness Girl. Featuring, surprisingly, plenty of famous space girls from film and TV.
How many do you recognise?

Blanka has a new job

Did you ever wonder what all those Street Fighter characters did after appearing in a popular in a video game franchise?
No? Well… here’s Blanka, who is not best known for being polite and mild-mannered, working as a meter maid. At least he takes his job seriously.

Star Trek Convention 1973

Legions of devoted fans The voices in my head demand more Star Trek content to counterbalance all the other neatly edited quality content that you’re used from this glossy internet sharade I call my website. So here’s some interesting Star Trek convention footage from 1973.

This great document of past times shows that even in the olden days you would have had no problem filling Arkham Asylum with new patients. “I’m ambassador X from eco-system 4″ But of course you are, sir, please put on this comfortable white straight jacket and do follow me. By the way, the lobster on your head gives your costume that extra authenticity.

Bonus: Isaac Asimov says something clever about Star Trek in this.

The crew of the Enterprise is torn apart by Facebook

Yeah, even the Star Trek crew posts embarassing videos and pictures on facebook and Starfleet is laughing at them.
That Enterprise is like one big frat party in space.

Super Shogun Stormtrooper

Although this 24inch/60cm Imperial Stormtrooper is not equipped with the new helmet it still looks rather impressive and cool.

The stiff movements of this awesome toy remind me of the sentry robots from The Black Hole, but maybe that’s just the Ritalin wearing off my memory playing tricks on me.

A cool feature that can be seen in the video is that it can fire its fist like the Shogun Warrior toys that I always wanted (and never had).

The only thing missing is Darth Vader’s sinister voice saying “ROCKET PUNCH!”. You know, because Darth Vader has experience with hands flying off and all.

PC Engine Promo Video

When I was young, which is several decades ago, I felt the urgent need to import a games console. I had to import it because Nintendo, SEGA and other hardware manufacturers just didn’t see a market in the backwards country I was living in (and still am, my life is going nowhere). Of course, only weeks after I bought my first console they officially sold consoles everywhere. For half what I paid.

However, I went for a SEGA Megadrive (the Genesis in the US, for all the spambots visiting and feeling the need to break out of their master’s code and wanting to leave a relevant comment). So I got my imported and overpriced Megadrive and hooked it up to the TV only to find out that the TV signal wasn’t compatible and that I could only play the games in black and white. That was worth my saved money for sure. All this 16bit glory and I felt like I was living in the 50s.

As a result I started hating SEGA. It was all their bloody fault. Surely not mine. I only got the Megadrive because I couldn’t afford the console that I really wanted, the PC Engine (NEC Turbo Grafx 16 in the US). In my opinion, it was the better console with cooler games (R-Type, Splatterhouse, Alien Crush).

Little did I know that it really was an 8bit console with a 16bit architecture graphics chip. Meh, semantics. By watching the video below you probably wouldn’t say that either. Like you know. Or care.

Princess Leia vs. Ace Ventura

There is no escape from the shenanigans of Ace Ventura but Princess Leia and Wicket have a plan. Because Endor has already suffered enough.
